Building Back with Love: A Community's Response to Climate Change
Treasure Beach, Jamaica.

I traveled to Treasure Beach, Jamaica, to see the destruction from Hurricane Beryl with my own eyes and understand how the community was coping. It’s one thing to hear about storms on the news, but being there walking past fallen trees, blocked roads and damaged homes made it feel real in a way I wasn’t expecting. A month after the storm, you could still see the scars everywhere, but what struck me most was the resilience of the people.

Talking to locals like Anthony Gordon, who lost all the food in his restaurant’s freezer, and Miss Dawkie, who slept outside in the heat with no electricity, really brought their struggles to life. Documenting their stories felt important - these are the faces of climate change, and their reality is impossible to ignore once you’ve seen it
